Little Things: A Sunrise

Take a moment every day to marvel at something and acknowledge how special that thing is. I was up early studying one morning while it was still dark, and as I looked out my window, I saw the sun begin to rise. There were a dozen different shades of purple, orange, and yellow stretching out from behind the clouds as the sun rose (on instinct, I ran outside to snap a picture of it, the picture above). A sunrise is something that can be seen by anyone, anywhere. It’s one of those things that can be experienced by a king and a homeless. Simple little things like that keep our world unified. This is something that both Oedipus and his sons could have seen and thought about at the same time (no matter how far away they were from each other and no matter what terms they were on with each other). Its simple things like this that link us together, even when we don’t realize it.
